No less than seven contenders interested in becoming the next National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) beat the Friday deadline to submit their expression of interest and nomination forms.
Bibian Anekwe News understands some of them were physically present at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja to submit their forms while others did so by proxy.
Apart from those interested in the National Chairman job, others interested in occupying various National Working Committee (NWC) offices also scrambled to beat the Friday deadline ahead of the APC National Convention scheduled for Saturday, March 26.

Some of those seeking to take over as APC National Chairman and duly submitted their forms yesterday were the Senator representing Niger East, Senator Sani Musa; a former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura; a former governor of Benue State and current Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume.

Others are a former deputy national chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Saliu Mustapha; a former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu; former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, and 36-year-old Mohammed Saidu Etsu who is an aide to the Niger State Governor.
Speaking with newsmen after submitting his form, one of the aspirants, Senator Musa debunked rumours of a consensus candidate as mere speculations.
He also said there is no truth in the reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the next national chairman of the party.

“Why did the party sell forms to us? As far as I’m concerned, there has never been anybody that officially contacted me or any other aspirants.

“Nobody! And the spokesperson to Mr President, Femi Adesina, has said there is no endorsement,” he said.
