A mother of three, whose name is revealed as Shukurat Adewumi has accused her husband of forcing her to abort pregnancy fifteen times within the space of their relationship.

Bibian Anekwe News learnt that Shukurat on Monday, September 7, during a Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State begged that her 17-year-old marriage to her husband, Adewale, be dissolved.

The woman who is said to be a nurse reportedly stated in her counter-argument before Chief Ademola Odunade, the court’s President, that her husband has severally put her life at risk.

She said, ”he forced me to have abortion 15 times, putting my life at risk. He denied paternity of my three children.”

Shukurat further alleged that Adewumi has once abandoned her and their three children to live with his concubine.

She said, “Some years ago when he left me to live with his concubine, Adewale returned home well ill and I took care of him.

“For the past two years, he declined paternity of our last child and recently came home to steal the only gas cooker we have. Adewale smashed the cylinder on my forehead because I tried to prevent him from taking it away,” NAN quoted Shukurat saying.

She continued, “I fainted and was hospitalized, his parents and relatives are all aware of his evil against me.

“Adewale has married two wives elsewhere,” Shukurat revealed.

However, Adewale who is said to be a factory worker had earlier told newsmen that he filed the suit due to his wife’s constant threat on his life.

He said, “Never did I know that she was a hooligan and street fighter when I got married to her.

“She has caused me so much embarrassment and I can no longer withstand it. I want custody of my children if she remarries,” Adewale categorically stated.

In his ruling, Chief Odunade who was represented by Alhaji Suleiman Apanpa dissolved the marriage in the interest of peace.

The court’s president also awarded custody of the three children to the respondent and ordered the petitioner to pay N15,000 as their monthly feeding allowance. Odunade again ordered Adewale to take responsibility for the education and other welfare of the children.

Meanwhile, some officers of the Nigeria Police Force enforcing COVID-19 curfew in Lagos State have been accused of causing the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby for allegedly delaying a surgeon who was supposed to operate the woman, Bibian Anekwe News reports.
