Identities Of Eight Police Officers Killed During Attack On Gov Zulum’s Convoy Revealed

Borno State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has released names of eight police officers killed by the deadly Boko Haram terrorists during an attack on the state governor’s convoy during the last weekend.

Bibian Anekwe News reported on Sunday, September 27 that the convoy of Borno State governor,Babagana Zulum was ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists along the Monguno-Maiduguri axis.

Reports revealed that over 30 persons died from the attack, the victims include 12 policemen, 13 civilians and 5 soldiers.

However, on Monday, September 28, the State Police Commissioner, Bello Makwashi, disclosed names of eight officer murdered during the attack. Bibian Anekwe News understands that Makwashi gave the names when the governor visited the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The CP listed the affected officers as Mba Mathew, Ibrahim Muhammad, David Jarta, Jerry Joseph, John Barka, Elijah Gwarza, Eheboya Osaheinde, and Nura Aminu.

According to Makwashi while interacting with governor Zulum during the visit, the command had to break the sad news to the families of the victims who resides in Maiduguri, adding that some were still on their way coming.

Bibian Anekwe News learnt that the wives of the officers who died discharging their duty have appealed to governor Zulum for support to their family during the trying moment. Speaking on behalf of the widows, one Mrs Effa David Jarta noted that they received the news of the unfortunate incident that claimed the lives of their husbands with shock.

“it is not easy,” she said. She, however, thanked the governor for his visit but begged that he should consider the situation which they are in now.

On his part, while expressing his deep heartfelt on the incident, Governor Zulum assured the women of his commitment to support their livelihood efforts and the education of their children.

He said, “I am standing before you here, I am not here to just see you and go back. God willing we shall not let you down, we shall support you.”

Meanwhile, the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF has said that the federal government and military officials have questions to answer about the attack on the Borno state governor.
