An aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie has accused international media house, CNN of lying in its report about the Lekki tollgate incident involving #EndSARS protesters and security operatives.

She stated on Thursday that CNN by its report, wanted to bully Nigerians into accepting its report on the Lekki shooting incident.

It will be recalled that amidst the confusion which has trailed the October 20 Lekki tollgate shootings when security operatives allegedly opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters in Lagos State, what actually transpired on that fateful night has so far remained shrouded in controversy.

Bibian Anekwe News reports there has been a lot of back and forth between the federal government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the security operatives particularly the Nigerian Army on what actually happened on that night at the Lekki tollgate plaza.

However, a Nigerian DJ, songwriter, and singer, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, better known as DJ Switch who was at the scene of the Lekki tollgate incident on that night and made an Instagram live video of the incident has insisted that soldiers shot and killed peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on the night of October 20.

Also, an independent investigation conducted by CNN on the October 20th Shooting In Lekki, has been released by the American Television Broadcasting Station.

The CNN footage supports claims that the soldiers shot at the #EndSARS protesters who had gathered at the tollgate to press home their demands to end SARS as well as end police brutality.

The shooting/massacre claim has been officially rejected by the federal government through a press briefing on Thursday 19th November by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

The claim has also been rejected by Onochie who wrote on her Twitter page: “I’m not upset that CNN lied to the world about my nation, Nigeria.”

“I’m upset that they think we are so stupid that we will swallow their lies. We won’t be bullied into believing a lie!”

See what she shared.
