The Holy Book says; how beautiful are the feet of one who brings good news, who heralds peace and proclaims salvation.
It has been a grand swell of thunderous applause and commendations for the person and administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu), the Executive Governor of Enugu State, whose policies and programmes have not only met with our demands and preferences but harnessed and translated our potentials into veritable tools of development.

It was President Muhammadu Buhari himself who recently told a foreign delegation that among the 36 states of the federation, it is only Enugu, Lagos and Rivers State that are able to meet up with their fiscal and monetary obligations to their indigenes, including the payment of workers salaries, and this is in spite of the fact that most of those other states were given bailout funds from the Federal Government to ease their financial burden.
But what stunned many about this revelation is that Enugu State is among the states that earns the least from the Federation Account which is the bedrock of resource allocation in the country. Yet Enugu State pays the salaries of its workers on or before the 25th of every month.
Such deafening cannonade for a commanding performance by Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi even from President Buhari who is known to be very frugal on such matters as he sets High value on critical appraisal of his subordinates has provided extensive apparatus of commentary on the present crop of state governors.
But Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s case has provided us with the most exciting and most engaging narrative, gaining headlines and national attention in the process, while giving us an astonishing overview of what good governance should be.

According to HRH. Amb. Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo, Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, ‘Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has successfully cultivated a veritable image of the Peoples governor through his Messianic actions which routinely touch millions of lives, especially the needy, the poor and the down trodden and helpless who daily pray for his personal well-being and success.

While Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, Commissioner For Environment and Mineral Resources, Enugu State, ‘In Gburugburu, the people of Enugu State know what they want, where they are going and the forces they can count on, he said that we are already having a revolutionary process in which independent Civic rights and obligations combined with emerging political trend of the governor’s all inclusiveness in his administration is turning Enugu State into a model for infrastructure and human capital development.

But to Nana Ogbodo, Chairman, Enugu State Local Government Staff Pensions Board, ‘the period Governor Ugwuanyi has been in office so far, represents a period of audacious reawakening evidenced by unprecedented peace, healthy and ecumenical politics, industrial harmony, massive infrastructural development across the length and breadth of the state and the payment of arrears of several years of frozen Pensions and gratuities’.
While Hon. Augustine Nnamani, Enugu State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is proud to be part of this engaging dispensation under Gburugburu and his trail of achievements made possible by the energy, time, resources, support and many talents of Ndi Enugu.
To Dr. Eugene Edeoga, a brilliant legal mind and long standing confident of His Excellency, Governor Ugwuanyi, ‘ it is sunny and glorious here in Enugu State and our season of bumper harvest has come with Gburugburu’s passion and drive to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to the people of Enugu State.
Chief Phil Ezeogu, an indigene of Imo State resident in Enugu summed up this blaze of glory when he told me that in his over 30 years of stay in Enugu State, he has not witnessed such a generous wave and intimidating acceptance for any governor in the state as is continuously unfolding for Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu).

Truly, Enugu State is the hands of God.
