Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has spoken about the sense of humour possessed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo even in not-so-pleasant situations.
Going back in time, Sani on Sunday recalled a period he and Chief Obasanjo were sentenced by a military tribunal sitting in Lagos State and how the former President reacted to the situation.

Sani pointed out that the tribunal had sentenced Obasanjo to life imprisonment for treason and sentenced himself and Dr. Beko to life imprisonment plus 7 years for treason.

After the pronouncement by the tribunal, Sani revealed in his Twitter post on Sunday that Obasanjo turned and asked him which one he wanted to start with – either the 7 years or life imprisonment.
He wrote: “When the Military Tribunal Judge in Lagos sentenced Obj to life imprisonment for treason and sentenced me and Dr Beko to life imprisonment plus 7 years for treason, Obj turned to me and asked “young man, which one are you going to start with, the 7 years or the life imprisonment?”

In other news, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that Nigeria has retrogressed under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the former leader, Nigerian efforts to build a nation have undergone significant decline since 2015.
He stated this on Saturday while speaking at an international forum organized by the Centre for Human Security and Dialogue at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of activities to mark his 85th birthday.

Bibian Anekwe News gathered that the event was attended by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, amongst others.

Obasanjo stated that to restore Nigeria from the decline is not an effort one person or a political party can achieve on its own.
