The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped one spot to now occupy the 36th position in the world according to the latest ranking released on Thursday by the world football governing body, FIFA.
Thursday’s ranking which is the first for the year 2021 saw Nigeria retain the 1474 points they had in the month of December but slip down by one spot from 35 to 36.

In Africa, Nigeria retained its 5th position behind countries like Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco who occupy the top four spots in the continent.

On the international scene, Naija News reports Belgium, France, Brazil, England, and Portugal continue to occupy the top five positions while the top 32 places in the global FIFA ranking remain unchanged since the last report in December 2020.

Meanwhile, the Guinness Book of World Records has recognised Nigerian athlete, Blessing Okagbare as the only athlete to have attended the Athletics Diamond Meetings 67 times.

The development was disclosed by the sprinter on her Instagram account lastweek Wednesday.

Blessing while reacting to the development, said the recognition is a dream that turned into reality through God’s grace and determination.
