When the good people of Enugu state freely gave their electoral mandate to Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in 2015, it was somewhat like a leapt of faith and an unflinching trust in God Almighty to perfect His eternal love for Ndi Enugu. In the realization of the fact that God was thrusting him forward to the service of his state in a special way, Ifeanyi Nwa Ugwuanyi promptly handed the many affairs of the state including the wisdom to navigate the onerous task of governance into God’s hands. And did God disappoint His people? How and when you decide to answer this question is a matter of personal dispositions. Yet it could not be denied even by the best opposition critics that Gburu-Gburu global has not worked in concert with God’s hands to touch in more significant ways than one the critical sectors of the state socio-economic and political fronts.
Ugwuanyi is indeed a man after God’s heart and whoever God has blessed cannot perform below expectations. The expectations of Ndi Enugu was indeed high and Ugwuanyi who understands both political nuances and takes the issue of governance seriously plunged headlong to deliver on the mandate freely given to him by the people.
Ugwuanyi left no one in doubt about his sincerity of purpose in government. Determined to pull back from the status quo and as a way of ensuring even development of the state, he initiated and galvanized resources to build or rehabilitate at least one major road in every local government in the State. It was a move meant to open up the hinterlands and make them alluring and enticing to discourage geometrical rural urban migration. In a manner reminiscent of how God Almighty started His creation trajectories and seeing that everything He created was good, Ugwuanyi was equally satisfied that roads in rural development was yielding desired fruits stepped up his game by initiating another policy to fast track rural development. Today, his policy of one autonomous community, one project (ONACOP) is just too glaring for everyone to behold. Enugu state has about 118 autonomous communities and no single community has been left untouched by government of Ugwuanyi through his sincere attention and interventions as a father of all. Ugwuanyi must equally be commended for disallowing such considerations as political affiliations or clannish dispositions to sway his choice of siting many of his rural projects.
It is important to stress that Ugwuanyi as a father of all did not equally leave the urban centers unchecked in his developmental strides. Some strategic urban areas like Achara layout, Uwani, Asata, Obiagu, Coal Camp, Ngenevu, Garriki, Thinker’s corner, Emene, Abakpa, GRA, Independence Layout, etc are currently under machine repairs despite lean resources. Perhaps, the icing on the cake is the flag off of the first ever Enugu fly over currently under construction at the popular T junction, Abakpa Nike in a move to ease the many sufferings of the citizens using that axis on daily basis as a result of the excruciating traffic snarl associated with the axis. His intervention in that regard has been applauded by not quite a few who described Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as God sent to Ndi Enugu.
Governor Ugwuanyi has truly and evenly touched the lives of the citizenry and is passionate about the welfare of the people. Our prayers is that someone in the likes of Ugwuanyi shall come our way again and again. May Enugu remain in the hands of God
