Gov. Ugwuanyi: Time to Climb a Higher Ladder

One must be a super human these days to be able to stand the stench oozing out of the underbelly of the Nigerian state. It cannot be gain-said that the situation as presently experienced across the length and breath of the nation especially in the areas of security, economic challenges and other socio-political issues is enough to give the nation of Afghanistan a run for their money. What is more? The Nigerian state has become a metaphor for a failing state that is still hanging on the precipice. Things has so much degenerated especially in the last six years that the prayers on the people’s lips and hearts has turned to O’Lord, remove this cross from us. May 2023 come quickly”.
Ironically, the problem with the Nigerian state is largely man made and associated with inept leadership at the center. A government that has squandered it’s goodwill on the alter of nepotism, clanishness, humongous corruption, political fervour and other sundry negatives. Ironically again, God has been so magnanimous with this nation that He blessed its people and land with so much enough to make even the developed world go green with envy. Harnessing the enormous resources which God has given the country has rather become a curse rather than a blessing, because those who found themselves in the corridors of power would not mind their mandate with passion, integrity and with the fear of God.

I’d like to align with the perception of not quite a few citizens that the APC government which took over at the center in 2015 are on the speed lane and have changed our narrative for the worse. The poverty level of the citizens are on the steady geometrical rise. People are shedding blood rather than water tears. Criminal and other sundry vices have found spaces in the forlorn hearts of not quite a few criminal minded individuals. Their trade is equally worsening the already precarious situation coupled with the inability of the powers that be to articulate a road map that would put Nigeria back to sustainable growth and development. Yes, it is quite unfortunate that the government at the center is not working assiduously in the direction of fixing the multifarious problems facing the Nigeria state.
It is unfortunate that kidnap for ransom has turned one lucrative business in the country, while Boko Haram, Fulani herders and as well as Unknown Gun Men has taken to killing innocent Nigerians as if killing is running out of fashion. The government is failing its people for sure. A government that has failed to call the famed bandits and Fulani herdsmen by its correct name and failed to deal decisively with the terrorists groups but would rather go into the ante room to negotiate or grant them amnesty with robust rehabilitation and Empowerment to boot could not be said to be working in the interest of the generality of the Nigerian people.

The focus of this write up is to look holistically at the trajectories that brought us to the present mess and to proffer a suggestion on what we should be thinking of doing to bring back our nation to winning ways. I must not fail to assert that this nation has cheated the Igbo race in the choice of the leaders it has thrown up to lead this country up to the present time. We must not also fail to acknowledge the fact that the Igbo nation is blessed with rich human resources capable of holding their own anywhere in the world. Of particular interest is the present icon of a leader of Enugu State, Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi remains unarguably, a leader of leaders. He is truly driven by a passion so uncommon to excel in his mandate to change his society for good. This is the kind of leaders we should be praying to have on the national scene post 2023. The national political parties must as a matter of priority and in the interest of equity and fairness zone the presidential race to the Igbo region.

If the wishes and prayers of the masses are for a better Nigeria and a God fearing leader on the throne who would restore the hope of the masses, then Nigerians should look at the direction of Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the current Executive governor of Enugu state. It is interesting to note that some women group from Zamfara state other notable citizens outside Enugu State are already making case for this objective to have Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Aso Rock Villa come 2023 is realized.

Nigerians would want Ugwuanyi to replicate the magic wand he has so far displayed in the governance of Enugu State. Nigerians would want the killings in the land to stop. They want workers to get paid and on time. They want more jobs for the youths of this country. They want the security system to be working. They want our politicians to stop flying abroad for medical treatment but to have all the necessary equipments here available for all and they believe that only Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi that can make these possible and more.

It is obvious even to the blind that Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is the Messiah of our time. We can only pray God to strengthen him with more wisdom to continue his good work for Nigeria.

Enugu State is in the hands of God!
