The subject of this article presupposes a leader who has the interest of all at heart no matter the clannish or political affiliations. Governor Ugwuanyi’s proclivity as an exceptional leader to all marks him out as a true father figure worthy of commendation. His Excellency Lawrence Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi here in referred to as HELIU (An acronym I have personally adopted) is a Governor, true Leader, and most of all a FATHER FIGURE both in deed and words to Ndi Enugu that elected him and Nigeria in general.
Not quite a few have been enamored by Gburu-Gburu’s fatherly love, care and concern towards Ndi Enugu in recognition of his positive attitude towards governance, campaign promises fulfilled, closeness to all irrespective of age, social class and political beliefs.
As a matter of fact, HIS EXCELLENCY LAWRENCE IFEANYI UGWUANYI’S fatherly roles in the governance of Enugu State cannot be over emphasized. This writer has observed with keen interest, Ugwuanyi’s uncommon closeness to the good people of Enugu State. While other leaders of his ilk would normally give out one excuse or another to evade attendance to mundane issues affecting his citizens, Gov. Ugwuanyi would ensure that time and space is squeezed out of his tight schedules to attend those functions very dear to his citizens such as grand opening of businesses, burial and marriage ceremonies and lots more.
These simple but powerful acts of humility has not just ensured that he gets closer to the people, but it has also afforded him varied opportunities to critically observe each environment with a view to understanding their plights and fashion out means to tackling such basic social amenities lacking therein.
ACCESSIBLE AND AVAILABLE HELIU has proven overtime that he is a father who announces his presence when ever the need arises. Though not one given to so much publicity as he has always believed in the Chinese time tested adage that admonishes all to do good at all times once opportunity calls as one may not pass the same way again. Ugwuanyi has consistently visited hospitals to offset the bills of many indigent patients who were usually held back due to exorbitant hospital bills. An Accessible Ugwuanyi has also made it a point of duty to visit the Correctional facilities with a view to identifying with the plights of the prison inmates and setting a quite no of them free who might have overstayed in such facilities without legal aid or slow justice on their behalf.
All these are achieved because HELIU MADE HIMSELF ACCESSIBLE AND Available. It is on record that Ugwuanyi as a true leader and father who loves all his children both those on the same party platform and those outside of it. It is therefore not surprising that Enugu state has been adjudged most peaceful in the entire South East of Niger courtesy of his exceptional leadership qualities.
Enugu State is truly on a great March to progress, peace and economic growth courtesy of the acceptance of all citizens irrespective of party affiliations, religious belief or clannish tendencies by the only Governor east of the Niger working assiduously in tandem with God’s injunctions all the way. Enugu state is truly in God’s hands. Thank you Gburu-Gburu of Africa for being such a wonderful leader and father of all. We move!
